I’m sorry, this is not the movie.. yet. I got a bit delayed because of personal stuff. I’ll try to complete it soon though!.
Meanwhile, we had Werner Vogels from Amazon at our office opening and he showed a really cool video, made using Animoto. So, i just went to Animoto to try it out myself, and it is very nice, see for yourself (this was a 2 minute job).

Finally it is here! Our LasVegas2Miami movie trailer. It’ll show you some samples from the movie, which will be released the first of June. A little part of the movie is copyrighted by Jeff Dunham, because we needed to include our biggest supporter during the trip. I really felt unsafe today in certain parts of the town while wearing the T-shirt with this specific supporter. The trailer is available in two formats (actually three but the 3rd one kind of sucks).

The Iphone version (download it here to get it on your iphone (which in fact makes you really cool because you can show it off to other people)).

The AppleTV version (it is not HD, the movie will be available in full HD but this format almost looks like HD while keeping it small). Should open in iTunes or Quicktime.

The version below is Youtube’d which is actually a very downgraded sample. I advise to take one of the above versions.

Hello you all,

Sorry that you have not heard from us for a while, but life, and especially work, goes on… But, hereby we want to let you all know that we are very busy making “Las Vegas 2 Miami - The Movie”.

It will take a while to make the movie. We are sorry for the inconvenience but we have over 7 hours of video, couple of hundred photo’s which all need to be placed in the right order. But there will be a great summery of our trip, don’t worry. It probably will cost us over about 2 month, but we will keep you posted.

We are also thinking about our next trip. Our plan is to make an deal with a big car- or lease-company: the borrow us a car and we give them great exposure

Especially we’d like to use a hybrid vehicle, it’ll be nice to cover such a story. How reliable is a hybrid car when you drive it straight through a desert? What’s the real fuel and battery consumption when it will be used for such a trip? Does a hybrid-car had the X-factor? Is it cool to drive a hybrid car? But, at the other hand, we would like a big Toyota Landcruiser and another big V8-car also.

Eelco figured out some extra information about our beautiful website and it seems that we have had much more visitors then we could ever hope for. We have had over 500 unique visitors a day. With this succes and if we can make everything a bit more professional we might be able to reach a much bigger crowd.

But we do need your help! What should be our next destination? And from where should we start? Please keep in mind, that this trip should fit these requirements:

• it must have a distance of at least 3000 miles and maximum of something about 6000 miles
• it must be from a big city to a big city
• it must have (at least the half of the trip) nice weather
• it must have some beautiful or authentic scenery
• That’s pretty much it, i think

Some suggestions:

• Montreal 2 Vancouver
• Moscow 2 Amsterdam
• Cairo 2 Dakar
• Dubai 2 Amsterdam
• Brisbane 2 Perth

But more important: where do you want us to go?

The roadmaster is living another live right now. I’m hoping it’s not chopped up for parts somewhere, it is the car that saved us many times from strange situations. So, I’m still in Florida, enjoying the Florida Keys and Quintijn is back in NL, watching Formula 1 (something he really missed down here, there was no channel in the hotel that would broadcast F1).

I was just looking over some data from our trip (which i will be putting together later on for a big statistics post). For a while we measured our gas usage to check how economic our roadmaster was driving. So on a regular trip we measured

90 116.7 - 89 746.1 = 370.6

miles. We’ve used 18.059 gallons for that distance, so thats:

370.6 / 18.05900 = 20.5216236

miles per gallon. My little iphone converter (which does this much easier) tells me that this is equal to 11.46 litres/100km or 8.72 km per litre. Which is actually quite nice. For comparison a prius does 44 mpg (so that’s 2 times less than the Roadmaster, BUT the Roadmaster would fit 2 priusses in it’s trunk easily while being able to drive around about 6 people AND enjoying navigation, itrip music and everything else we got hooked up). A mazda 6 for example (not even a v8) does 19 miles to the gallon (pffff) and a volvo XC70 does 18 miles to the gallon! It is proven that our Roadmaster was actually a Green Machine™.

When i get back in NL i’ll edit the feature film and put up some more shots from the ‘on the road’-cam (we’ve only put online about 30% of the material, there’s still a lot of cool stuff to show you but first we’ll need a larger hard drive and my Mac Pro). In the moments between Q and i will compile all the trip data and put that online.

I wont miss:

• Te cold and unstabel weather in Northern America. After leaving Las Vegas with a normal 20 degrees we went to Salina(-5), Denver (-11,2), Kansas, (-4) and Springfield (-5). Although the weatherman of the Weather Channel told us on TV: ” If you don’t like the weather in Springfield, wait 5 minutes”(the weather was so unstable that one day it’s -10 and the next day +17 degrees, no kidding!), we decided that we need to go South very fast, as we did.
• The exotic animals. I did not like the cockroaches and aligators in Florida.
• The slow maximum speed on the Highways and Interstates. The maximum is 75 Mph, and that’s really slow when this highway is a good, straight road of 100 miles long, with very less exits and good weather… There is not one reason to drive so slow on these roads.
• Driving in not-insured cars..
• My girl Nadine, because i’m back in the Netherlands, i don’t have to miss her anymore. She will be with me every day!

I will miss:

• …the warm weather of South America: In Florida we only have had temperatures above 21 degrees and topped at 36 degrees in Miami.
• ..the wonderful canyons and mountains as Brice and Arches. I haven’t seen anything like it in Europe so far. Not in England, Spain, France, Switserland, Austria, Italy and any other country. It’s so beautiful, big, silent, unique and peacefull
• …the commercial instinct of the American people. Everywhere you look are commercial signs, lots of store are 24/7 open or at least untill late in the evening. Hotelemployees are calling competitor-hotels to ask if they have a room left for us. That way they help us and hope you will get a good impression of their hotel. Wow, i love that!
• …the nice attitude of most Americans. The keep doors open, and give up their seats for older- or disabled people. The ones i have seen are much more social than most people from the Netherlands.
• …highway’s and Interstates without trafficjam. We travelled for about 3400 miles and we have had 2 miles of traffic jam near Tallahassee, which caused us for about 20 minutes delay.
• …the cheap Dollar in comparison to the Euro. Food, drinks, clothing, fuel, houses, cars, electronics, phones, you name it, all cost for about half the money in the US.
• …the clip on the fuel-nozzle. That way you don’t have hold it every second when you are re-fuelling your car. Why do we not have this in the Netherlands?
• ..the big American SUV’s. I really love the Chevy Tahoe’s and Cadillac Escalades the most. Especially in white or black with lots of chrome and big rimms!
• …the big Shoppingmalls with enough, free parkingspace, with smaller and bigger shops where you can buy anything you need, including lots of clotes of nice brands as Tommi Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren.
• …the free re-fills on drinks. This was great for my Coca-Cola addiction
• …my ‘Sweet Union Chicken Teriyaki” on a 6 inch “Italian Herbs & Cheese”. That was my breakfast and lunch from Subway, most days when we where on this wonderfull trip.
• ..the great discussions, fun, and talks i had with my great friend Eelco! Thanks dude, i had a great time, with you as my guide!
• …and last but not least, our loyal group of followers by this site, twitter, rss, sms and mail. Thanks for the attention. Last time i have checked we had 1174 unique visitors so far.
