The merchandise is growing. My lovely wife Marloes did a ‘how-to-make-a-cool-pie’ course last friday and this is the pie she created. Although i’m not a big fan on sugary cake pies (that’s more Quintijn’s thing) this one tasted as good as it looks! Thanks hun!

Update from Quintijn: Ofcourse, like the tanktops and stickers, the pies are for sale at a mere $30 per pie.

We’ve had a lot of requests about our route feature. It is nice to have a google map to show where we’ve been but it is missing some essential information. Below is the result from a little script i wrote to get that information from the tracking file. We maybe be able to add live tracking in the US but that is going to be a big maybe.

With only one week to go, this will be the week of waiting and testing for me. On monday morning i’ll be transporting Eelco to the airport, and next sunday i’ll be heading for the airport myself. But I still have to pack all of my stuff. Pretty hard to figure out what kind of clothing i have to take with me. Because of the great temperature-differences between some city we will visit: Houston 12c, Las vegas 11c, Springfield -4c, Miami 27c… So, what will it be? Jeans, sweaters and gloves? Or shorts, t-shirts and a baseball cap for the sun? I really dont know, but i can’t take it all…

In the meantime, we bought some goodies in Amsterdam to promote our country over there. Orange wooden boots and 4 crazy T-shirts. We also bought all kinds of adapter, electricity-splitters, USB Cables, I-pod cables and memory card readers.

And we received the stickers today. Anyone? They are for sale also!

But besides all that, we are pretty buisy testing all kinds of stuff. How long does the camera battery holds it? Does our flickr- and twitter account work? Is my skype account still working? That way it will be easier and most of all cheaper to communicate with my girlfriend and others in Europe during our trip. Does theGPS tracker works like it suppose to do? Looks good so far.

So only one week to go, no set back what so ever so far. So, let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope this week will pass very quickly!

I’am allmost ready to go!

Thanks to my good friend Aaron from San Francisco, CA we’ve received the tickets for Jeff Dunham! A picture is included below It’s for real now, we have a purpose for our 1000+ miles detour!

It’s only nine days until our journey starts, I’m quite excited about it! For me the trip starts on monday; i’ll be flying to Monterey California to visit the TED conference. This conference ends the 2nd of march after which i’ll be driving (supposedly in a Dodge Durango, but you never know with car rental shops these days) to Las Vegas to pickup Quintijn. This will be a ten hour drive, but Quintijn won’t be arriving until 20:30 so i’ve got time to spare.

As you can see i’ve updated the site with a Twitter section in the sidebar. We’ll be using our iphones to ‘twit’ about interesting stuff along the way. Twitting is a kind of microblogging, you can use about 160 characters to tell other whatever you’d like to say. This is easier for us to post updates along the way.  We’ll use this updating scheme during the trip: in de morning we’ll upload our GPS tracking data from the day before. Then we’ll start and drive up to our next destination. While in the car we’ll update using Twitter and at times using pictures from our iphone. Then, at the hotel, we’ll try and write a blog message, update our photo’s to Flickr (we won’t sort them out first, so there will be good and bad pictures in the lot), edit the video from that day which has been shot using my old sony video cam (we’re also using a bigger and better HD cam for LasVegas2Miami the movie, which will be opening in theatres in June) and post the video clips on Youtube. So that’s the plan, we’ll keep y’all posted!
